Værfast, mens mannskapet på landlig ekspedisjon

Hei Mikkel,

Hilsen,
Svenning

Hi Fritz,
Good news that the weather seems to improve next week. Right now we have clear weather and no wind in Punta Arenas, and we just went through a beautiful sunset. I have been looking closely at my Gribs, and to me it seems possible to depart from Carbo Virgenes on Saturday, provided we stay close to shore. Or do you still think we have to wait until sunday or monday - my gribs  don't go that far...
Regards,
Svenning

Hi Svenning,
The new run confirms yesterday's story. Still bad weather on Sunday but next week seems to improve!
I will keep you posted so you can make your preparations in time.

Hi Fritz,
That was bad news, as we feared.
We can not reach Pt Deseado by thursday as we first have to check out, and it was too late in the day to do that today. So we were stuck. It is important for us to know about how long you think we have to
wait, as we have to make alternative plans. Also we have to consider that it will take a day and a half from we decide to go and to when we are out of Magellan strait, so we have to plan ahead.
Regards,
Svenning

Hi Svenning,
It does not look so good. Very unstable conditions.
Tomorrow a low settles over Bahia Blanco and the Golfo de San Jorge, so on it's southern side you first have an easterly flow. as the low moves to the northeast the eastely flow is replaced by a northern flow. This northern flow gets stronger on Thursday 1 March: 25  kts. On Friday backing to northwest 20 kts.
Saturday 3 March give a southernflow which is again replaced by a Northerly on Sunday and Monday, and this time it is a very strong northerly flow. Ideal  should be to be in port, puerto Deseado before Thursday noon. But is that possible??? I seems not wise to sail on Sunday and Monday.

Fritz

Hi Fritz,
We are now on our long way home. We arrived in Punta Arenas this morning on our way to Mar del Plata. Our crew hope to fly out of there Saturday  18.02 - so we are short of time (as usual) as the trip requires about 8  days of sailing. There are harbors after 2 and 3 days of sailing - if we get time or have to wait for weather. Looking at my Grib-files the weather pattern does not look good the  with wind from north. I hope you can help us again to find a good window starting from Cabo Virgenes N 53 20 W 68 20 at the outlet of  Magellan strait, it will take us about 24 hrs to reach that from Punta Arenas.

We hope to depart PA Tuesday morning, timed for the tide current, weather permitting. If possible, I hope to get some guidance tomorrow morning.
Regards,
Svenning
