Atlanterhavet venter

4/3
Hi Fritz,
Thank you for phone conversation today, and finally GO. We departed Punta Arenas at 1330 local time (1630 UTC) in 9 kts SSE. Wind very variable all night, 30 kts for short while, now at 0330 local time from S at 10 kts. We have had very good timing with current. We did 2. Angostura with 2 kts against and 1. Angostura with 5 kts from behind so we did 11 kts. So now we are only 20 nm from inlet (Cabo Virgeness) where we expect to be 0630 - 0700 local time (depending on current that is still with us but gradually decreasing). Then we are finally out in the Atlantic again, and plan to sail directly to Mar del Plata in about a week.
Watches are set and all is well onboard.
Regards,
Svenning

Hi Svenning,
Here are the winds from Cano Virgeness until Cabo Blanco for the next
week. I think if you stay within 20 mile from the coast it wil be calmer
with the mostly offshore, the only disadvantage is that it will be more
gusty!

Today Saturday 3/03: SSW 15 kt -> E 10 kts -> NE 20 kts -> 18 utc NE 25
kts Sunday 4/03: N 25-30 kts -> 12 utc SW 25-30 kts -> 18 utc W 10-15 kts ->
21 utc N 25 kts
Monday 5/03: WNW 15 kts -> N 15 kts
Tuesday 6/03: NW 15 kts -> NW 25 kts -> W 25 kts
Wednesday 7/03: NNE 25 kts -> N 25 kts -> WNW 15 kts
Thursday 8/03: N 10-15 kts -> N 20 kts
Friday 9/03: N 20 kts -> dropping -> Z 15-20 kts
Tommorrow i wil make a calculation from your ETA at Cabo Virginess.
Greetz and safe winds,
Fritz

Hi Fritz,
This is not easy. Today, I have downloaded Gribs from two sources, Grib US
and Gribplot that i use with XGate. Grib US shows reasonable conditions
after Sunday 1200 UTC with variable and not very strong winds. Gribplot
gives possible but tiering conditions after Sunday 1200 UTC, with stronger
winds from NW, but not more than 25 kts. And your runs probably shows
another story? I understand why we need a meteorologist! With this I
really look forward to your conclusions tomorrow morning.
Regards,
Svenning
