Red av stormen

Hi Fritz,
At 1230 UTC, we are sailing/motoring with SW wind at 10 kts. Posn. S40 17,1 W 60 15,2. All is well.
We tried to reach shelter at Bahia San Bas last night with ETA 2300 UTC. Then the storm hit at 1800hrs from NNE, with 45 kts  gusts. We dropped the main and reached with roller reefed genoa only. Waves were building and we understood that it would be too dangerous to enter the harbor with the shallow entrance. So we turned to ride out the storm in the open. The next weather hit at 2100 UTC, but not as strongly as the first. At 1900 UTC it gets weaker, and we put on cutter jib and trysail to be prepared for the next depressions. But they did not happen and we had a peaceful night with little wind and a lot of swell. Looks like everything happened earlier than predicted.
We expect to reach Mar del Plata tomorrow before dark.
Regards,
Svenning
