Anne Mari rapporterte igår, 29. august om styringsproblemer:
At 1300 utc our position is: N 06 48 W 025 14. wind from 270 blowing 20-30 knots. As you see, we do OK going south, but not enough W. With current wind direction difficult to do. We can tack when wind moves S.
Last night somewhat better than previous one, with winds not reaching more than 40 kts in squalls.
Lost steering 0530. could not see anything wrong from inside (qadrant, etc) and managed barely to handsteer until daybreak. Was the rudder broken or what??? We hove to, and a quick swim showed everything in order, but a lot of seaweed. We have seen enormous amounts of seaweed the passed
days, and it had been building on our rudder. Easy to get off, but rather scary particulary when pitch dark. All is well here, but we are looking forward to less wind...
Værmelding 30. august:
Svenning,
From now onwards: improving. The atmosphere is stabilizing as you gain more distance to the South and the SOuthern Hemispheric SE'ly trade winds will become predominant. That will give you some rest and time to enjoy things.

Weather Forecast Anne Mari -30 August- day 18
General situation
The deepening depression is further moving away in a W tot WNW'ly direction, so its influence becomes increasingly less. This means that that the wind is in general decrease and the atmosphere is gradually stabilizing. As a result the squalls become less active, eventually remaining to the North of your position.
From now onwards the SE'ly trade winds will become predominant and will allow you to choose the perfect heading for Salvador.
I hope you survived those rough days well and everyone is fine.
