Trerevsføre i Atlanterhavet

Hi Marc,
You did not promise the crossing to be a piece of cake, and I can assure you that we had no cake last night! We got the first squall last night at 2100 UTC but managed to sail around. But it was a warning so we put in two reefs in the main. At 0500 this morning we got the first one. Really big, filled most of  the radar screen. Incredible rain and lightning, and wind gusting 50 kts.Our new and brave Monitor managed to steer us through, although on a reach. One hour later a new one, also big, hit. Then another just after sunrise. Now it is grey, with clouds suggesting a lot of possibilities for more squalls - wind NNW 20 - 25 kts.

Posn at 1100UTC: N 09 27,5 W 24 53,4
Comparing with your coordinates for the same time, we are very close.
Marc, you adviced us to go direct south, so we are now going more or less due south. Is this right or shall we stick to the original course taking us to N 5 W 28?
Spirits are good, but we plan for three reefs next night. Regards,
Svenning

Svenning,
Sounds rough indeed.
Try to keep that westerly component in as well.
Marc
